The Five-division World Champ had an interview with Martin Domin of Daily Mail at a BET Awards-related event over the weekend and this is what he had to say "September 13, back to business, Marcos Maidana vs Floyd Mayweather Part 2. Then in May, I'll have a big surprise for you."
There was no surprise in this rematch considering Maidana, 30, stood toe-to-toe and proved to be quite an unexpecting challenge for Mayweather, 37, and both boxers will yet again have something to prove when they meet on September.
The rematch with Maidana was somewhat already somewhat anticipated, the most intriguing part of Mayweather's comments concerns a supposed bout in May. He calls it a "Big Surprise." Could that possibly mean that there is actual progress about this epic match-up against Manny Pacquiao? It wouldn't probably generate the same level of excitement it could have aroused and would pale in comparison had it happened a few years back, but still would be a trademark bout our fans would definitely die to see. Another speculation was a match with Amir Khan, but let's face it, it wouldn't have the same end of the world impact as Pacquiao would plunge the entire planet into if the match has been set.
